CULTURAL SAFARI

Tanzania has over 130 tribes with their own traditions, culture & dialect like the iconic Masai to the lesser-known tribes like Datoga, Chaga, and Hadzabe. Tanzania has a rich diverse culture for you to discover. Consider a short visit to a local Masai village to learn about their semi-nomadic lifestyle, or take a day trip to meet the Hadzabe tribe, the world’s last remaining hunters and gatherers.

Born to Dream has your covered if you want to add a culture trip to your itinerary or build an entire cultural safari to meet many of the different tribes of Tanzania.

THE BIG 5

The term ‘Big 5’ originated from hunters referring to the top 5 most dangerous animals on earth to hunt. The big five include lions, leopards, elephants, buffalos & rhinoceros. Nowadays, it is a term used in Safari tourism when reaching the achievement of spotting all 5 during a Safari.

East Africa, especially in Tanzania, is one of the few places in the world where safari-goers have a chance to see ALL 5. Tanzania is home to more than half the world’s remaining lion population. Tarangire National Park is known for having one of the highest concentrated number of elephants in the entire country of Africa.

THE GREAT MIGRATION

The largest overland migration in the entire world, this ever-moving circular migration spans across the Serengeti-Mara ecosystem. By far the most famous, sought-after experience for wildlife enthusiasts, consisting of nearly 2 million wildebeests & 300,000+ zebras, wildlife search for fresh grasslands & water.

The highlight of the Great Migration is the famous Mara River crossing; where the herds take a leap of faith to reach sustenance on the opposite side. They plunge into crocodile invested waters, then face prides of lions, leopards, and cheetahs to reach the grasslands of the Mara.

Calving season begins in the southern plains of the Serengeti during earlier months. They take a clockwise route where herds voyage through the plains of the Serengeti. Facing predators during their journey, thousands perish & then thousands are born back in the southern plains. Replenishing and sustaining the population, therefore continuing the Circle of Life.

“I couldn’t be happier with our experience with Daniel and Born To Dream Tours! We were on a 6 day safari, and every day he went to great efforts to make sure we were comfortable and had the experience we were looking for. At one point I lost my towel and Daniel even went to town to buy me a new one! ”

Chimpanzee Trekking

Take a step off the beaten path to the banks of Lake Tanganyika in the Kigoma Region of Tanzania to walk in the footsteps of Jane Goodall in search for the chimpanzees. Mahale Mountain National Park is a remote, uncluttered & breathtakingly beautiful park that has one of the largest populations of chimpanzees and is the only protected areas for them in the entire country. This is the only park where chimpanzees and lions co-exist. Daily treks are conducted by knowledgeable, experienced guides. Once you have found a group of chimpanzees, you will have an hour to witness them in their natural habitat.

A walking safari is a must to put on your bucket list while visiting Africa. It allows you to heighten your sense of smell, sight, & sound that a game drive cannot provide. Your guide will keep you safe as safety is their #1 priority. You will be taught hand signals of communication as your trusted guide navigates you through the grass/woodlands. Learn how to track animals on foot, instead of radio communication in the vehicle. Walking safaris are not limited to the well-trained hiker. Depending on your fitness-level, your guide will help choose which paths are most suited for you.

night game drive

In order to rest up for their busy night of action to search for their next meal, many predators spend their days resting in the warm sun or under the cool shade of an Acacia tree. As the dark night skies arrive your senses will quickly adjust to the dark surroundings as you immerse into a whole new world after sun set! As your eyes adjust, keep a look out for the glowing eyes of the big cats, hyenas, porcupines, and the fearless honey badgers. The night life action doesn’t only belong to predators perusing their next meal, you will see elephants enjoy the cooler nights also.

From exceptional guiding and personal tour managers, everything is tailored to a safari holiday the whole family will enjoy. Children aged 5 and up are more than welcome to join us on safari.
